My time in Fort Lauderdale was nothing short of beautiful — the kind of trip that lingers in your mind long after the bags are unpacked. From treasured moments with friends and family to the backdrop of blue skies, warm humid air, and unforgettable food, this getaway was filled with the kind of joy that deserves a trip down memory lane.
Our first culinary stop was Jaxson’s, where vacation officially began on a sweet note. Known for its homemade ice cream, this spot delivered both nostalgia and creativity in every scoop. With unique flavors like white chocolate macadamia and Cookie Monster, every choice felt like a tiny celebration. It was the perfect first indulgence and set the tone for the delicious days ahead.
The sweet streak continued with a visit to The Bake Shack, where the display counter alone was enough to test anyone’s self-control. Their homemade baked goods were as beautiful as they were tempting, and the satisfaction of finally choosing a treat made the experience even better. Everything we tried was excellent, from the sticky, satisfying honey bun to the unforgettable maple bacon donut. It was one of those places where every bite confirms you made the right decision.
Another standout food moment came at Talkin’ Tacos, which was a new experience for me and easily one of the most memorable meals of the trip. Calling it delicious would be an understatement. We ordered the taco platter, and every variety brought something bold and unforgettable to the table. The birria taco, in particular, was absolutely out of this world — the kind of bite that makes you pause and savor it properly. I was so impressed that I’ve already looked up the location closest to home.
When it came to adventure, Rapids Water Park brought the fun. The park had something exciting everywhere you turned, making it easy to slip into full vacation mode. Even when lightning cut the day short, it didn’t put a damper on the experience — we had already laughed, splashed, and made enough memories to call it a success.
Still, the highlight of the trip had to be beach day. Fort Lauderdale Beach gave us the perfect setting for a laid-back, joy-filled day by the water. The ocean was warm and welcoming, and with a cooler packed full of burgers, hot dogs, and chicken ready for the grills, it felt like the ideal family beach day. One thing I especially appreciated was how the water didn’t seem as overwhelmingly salty as many other beaches I’ve visited, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
Overall, Fort Lauderdale proved to be a destination full of charm, flavor, and fun. Between the beach days, water park thrills, and incredible food, there was always something to do, see, eat, or explore. It’s the kind of place that leaves you already thinking about your return before you’ve even left — and I already know there are a few spots I can’t wait to revisit.
